SCWIBLES is a great opportunity for hands-on, inquiry-based approaches to teaching, learning and conservation, as well as bringing together research in ecology and environmental studies. As Greg Gilbert, the SCWIBLES program director states, ” … students [should] move into the world with the capacity to draw on all the resources they can to creatively solve the environmental issues of tomorrow—not those of yesterday.”  [They should] “recognize the great responsibility that comes with the privilege of education, including the responsibility to use scientific understanding to continually re-evaluate the assumptions that shape their world-view. ”
