Lesie López is the Program Coordinator for SCWIBLES. She holds a PhD in socio-cultural anthropology, with a specialization in communication systems, media, and education in Latin America and the Southwest United States.
Leslie has taught critical thinking through social inquiry and documentation at UCSC for the last eight years. She serves as Faculty Adviser to student media organizations, and coordinates the “Corre La Voz” program through UCSC’s Education Department. This program places undergraduate mentors in Santa Cruz elementary and middle school schools to work on digital media projects after school with students who are working on English proficiency.
Leslie is interested in working with people to make curriculum and institutions usefully responsive to inquiry and to our changing world, and in bringing communities and regions together in inclusive and sustainable ways.
