Jennie Ohayon – Graduate Fellow 2012-13

JennieOhayon_Fellow2010I research urban ecological restoration, particularly lands that have been degraded by past industrial use. I am interested in how to restore, conserve and enrich plant biodiversity in these areas by focusing on spatial and abiotic features of the landscape, as well as ecological processes such as dispersal. I also investigate how community organizing and public policy can influence the redevelopment of land that has been historically degraded through industrial or commercial activities. I am excited about the opportunity to work, and learn reciprocally, with high school students and teachers on science that is oriented towards hands-on experiences and addressing environmental issues.JennieOhayon_poster2010_thumb
